Invest SVG Health & Wellness Expo
Healthy Living for a Strong, Vibrant and Growing Community
Given the global Health and Wellness trends it is thought that Wellness Tourism ought to be given focus in St. Vincent & The Grenadines as we have an abundance of natural resources giving rise to potential comparative advantages to other Caribbean destinations. This gives us the opportunity to diversify our economy, while improving the quality of life for Vincentians as consumers, service providers and producers.
In an effort to shine a light on this sector, a much broader one than most people would realize, the team at Invest SVG, with the financial backing of the European Union, is organizing a Health & Wellness Expo aimed at identifying the various services and service providers operating in the sector. The Expo, which took place on November 28th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM, ran several workshops covering various services in the field, and had industry providers exhibiting their services to the general public.
Holding a Health and Wellness Expo not only showcased the local offerings but it highlighted the business and career opportunities within this sector. Services in the Health and Wellness sector range from hair and skin care, spas, gyms and general health to healthy eating, herbal remedies, alternative medicines, physiotherapy, acupuncture and reflexology, among others. It links agriculture and tourism together in new ways and offers opportunities for youth employment.
‘This Expo was not only for the general community, to make them aware of the wide range of services that are available to them, but it was also looking to inform established and potential service providers of the scope of the industry and of the range of potential support services for their various organizations’, says Invest SVG Marketing Officer, Tonya Fraser. ‘
The Expo, themed ‘Healthy Living for a Strong, Vibrant and Growing Community’ utilized the recently rebranded organisation’s strapline: Strong, Vibrant, Growing to highlighted the aims of the sector in maintaining a healthy community of Vincentians.
